This concept was taken from module 4 "ethical codes”, sub topic 1"international nursing council".
The ICN code of nurses was first adopted in the year 1953 by the international council of nurses. Since 1953 this code have been revised severally and the last revision was in the year 2000. This code is available in Spanish, German and French language for easy understanding by nurses from other areas. Nurses have four fundamental responsibilities which are; to promote health, to prevent illness, to restore health and to alleviate suffering. Nobody is seen as less important as even the cleaner's role is very important. Imagine a patient who vomited in the room and there is no cleaner to wipe the vomitus off there is no way a nurse will carry out proper care in that room with the vomitus and the patient and relatives will also not be comfortable. Hence we should all work as a team for the good of the patients.
SOCIAL CONTEXT
The society do not really know much about the ICN code for nurses but what they understand is to be cared for once they come to the clinic. They want to be respected and wants their problems to be solved.
They have high respect for the health care providers who respects them and show competence in the way she carryout her duties. They are happy when the healthcare facility is neat and tidy. It makes them feel comfortable. They are relaxed when they see health care providers working in harmony and whenever they go to a facilities where health care providers always argue and fight they are unhappy and for some will even request to be discharged or referred.
