This report has conducted a Human Resource Development Needs Investigation (HRDNI). A HRDNI assists an organisation in identifying the gaps in their employee’s current skills and knowledge and those required now or in the near future (Delahaye 2011). A HRDNI involves the exploration of the current legitimate system but at times can delve into the shadow system if an investigation is concerned with new knowledge or future orientated (Halpin & Hanlon 2008). This HRDNI has been created for St Anne’s, a catholic primary school which is currently enduring a performance deficiency amongst some of its employees.

This gap in performance creates an issue where employees do not complete aspects of their job description. It is evident that BCE’s expectations regarding reporting were not being consistently met by employees at St Anne’s.
4. Investigative Processes
The collection of information is heavily relied upon in this area of the HRDNI. In conducting this stage, there are numerous methods and techniques which can be employed to investigate the needs of an organisation (Brown 2002). Each method has its own advantages and disadvantages. By being aware of this, HR developers can increase the advantages and control the disadvantages of any of these strategies (Saks & Haccoun 2007). For the purposes of St Anne’s the method used was organisational records.
4.1 Organisational Records This method of investigation involves any recorded documents which detail information regarding planning, policies, employee records, meetings, memos and more (Delahaye 2015). In the context of St Anne’s, there were two predominant records which detailed the performance deficiency of the employees. The advantage of this investigative process, is it clearly provides unbiased evidence and results (Brown 2002).
