Healthcare Policy Video Meeting Journal Analysis

Healthcare Policy Video Meeting Journal I attended the video meeting from the Minnesota Department of Health. There was not one single policy that was discussed during this meeting; instead it was an overall talk about healthcare. The goal of this meeting was to discuss how elected officials could create a healthy state. This is done in many ways but one of the initiatives is “health in all policy.
More importantly the foundation of this initiative lies with the community. As a community they are become the structure and values that supports health for the people. It was interesting to hear, and excited that our elected officials are taking this initiative seriously. The fact that they understand that health is embedded in education, transportation, housing, and nutrition are play a role in healthy living. Without a doubt having these values makes me excited to start working in the health field where others support the same beliefs that I have in a holistic approach to each individual. Additionally, cost is a large component to health, and this meeting did not discuss specifics about financial processes or regulatory processes. Using technology to stay in contact with others that could not attend is a great way to view a form of informatics used in real situations. Connecting with those at long distances is something that I could encounter as a nurse, and a future public health nurse. This meeting was more of a multidisciplinary meeting with one leader directing the questions, and the direction of the meeting. Although, there was a leader for the conversation, he was respectful and allowed time to let others that were not present asks questions or weigh in on questions he had asked. Based on what I had seen was he had a democratic leadership style by making sure he was leading the discussion and moving it along, but allowed others to put in their input. I feel that this was a professional meeting that was respectful to everyone involved. The leader did question what one individual said, but he did so in a respectful manner that allowed for growth.
