The majority of nurses understand the importance of health promotion and how it can have an effect on the individual or communites it is introduced to, “nurses generally accept that health education and health promotion are important function of their role”(Hope et al.,1998 and Norton,1998). Not everyone believes that nurses aswell as other health professional play the part of being role models for their patients “it has been argued that nurses and other health professionals act as a role model for the patients and communities they serve and that nurses are aware of this”(Clarke et al.,2003 and Mclann et al.,2005). In order to publicise health the nursing student must aquire the correct methods on how to implement health promotion “ when nursing students become praticing nurses, they need to understand the importance of their personal health promoting lifestyle and the value of such behaviours”(Pawloski and Davidson 2003) but according to Whitehead(2007) “ hospital based nurses had a good understanding of health promotion and health education but were constrained in their attempts to implement them into practise” in other words, nurses understand health promotion but it is proving difficult for them to spread awarness of health.
