Certainly, there is no doubt that everyone would like to be cheerful in their lives. We often do a lot of things that can make us happy. However, what is happiness? I guess each of you may have different definitions of happiness. Some might say happiness is the state of being contented and satisfied whereas some defined happiness as positive emotions such as joy, pride, excitement and gratitude. Even our best friends can be our own family. A German inventor, Friedrich Koenig once said, “We tend to forget that happiness doesn't come as a result of getting something we don't have, but rather of recognizing and appreciating what we do have.” We surely have so many blessings until we are unable to list all of them, yet we often take them for granted. Our family is a big blessing to us and we should be very grateful and happy to be able to live with them. I cannot begin to imagine if there is someone who can live alone without having any motivation from his or her family and friend and it is scarce to find a person who is content to live in complete isolation. Lord only knows how much pain and bitter one endures when there is no one for him or her to get advice, emotional support and even a resource to come bail one out of trouble. Doing some activities or pastimes with our family and friends can strengthen our relationship bond together, which can affect our happiness positively. Knowing that our family and friends care and love for us is enough to make us feel warm inside.
As a conclusion, happiness is difficult to define because it is particular to each but one thing is clear is that we should not always be stressful in our life. As there goes saying by Ralph Waldo Emerson, “For every minute you are angry, you lose sixty seconds of happiness.” There are a lot of ways to be high-spirited and cheery and it depends whether we want it or not.
