When I first heard about the HCOM Legal Studies Internship I was stoked because internships’ provide an opportunity to develop our skills and knowledge alongside a professional. This Internship class should provide me with the hands on experience that employers look for when hiring college graduates. I will mention how his class will allow me to fulfill a goal of mine, upon completing this course, I also expect myself to know if I really want to work in an office environment or as a police officer patrolling the streets. Learning in detail about the laws, statutes, and amendments will help me ensure all people have equal protection of the law; while assisting low income people in the Central Coast with their legal issues will also, allow

I anticipate that I will have to perform multiple jobs efficiently, professionally, and compassionately in a fast pace environment. Assisting people from all walks of life in difficult legal situations and handle every situation with a calm and understanding demeanor. My interviewing technics/skills should improve with the more experience I gain; I will also have to pay close attention to details when conducting interviews, so I could ask good follow up question that may help determine if a client has a valid claim. Meaning their case raises a legal question that infringes their rights. I also, expect to learn in detail what statements made by clients are protected by attorney client privilege. Because there are exceptions as to when an attorney may reveal information told to them by a client. My only concern about this class is whether I will be able to complete my one hundred hours at the Watsonville Law Center in a timely manner, before the due date. We will work to establish important connections in our career field, by getting our feet wet and getting hands on experience of what our studies might look like in a office workplace.
