My grandpa has always told me how lucky I am to be able to attend such a great school. It never came to mind why he would always say that to me when I brought up school. It wasn’t until I really saw what it meant to attend a good school and live in a nice home. I never thought of the importance of being employed or what happens when your parents aren’t able to provide for you. I never realized how to be thankful for my life until that day.

As I walked down the hallway, I admired the artwork from other children. It was much better than my artwork that was hanging on the fridge. The students were charming. The saying hello to me in the hallway on my way to the 4th-grade classroom. The boys were all wearing the same thing; khakis, white polos, and navy blue cable knit sweater vests. The girls were wearing white polos, evergreen green cable knit sweater vests, with blue and green plaid skirts. I thought that it was slightly peculiar how every student in the building coordinated, It was slightly appealing because I have only seen uniforms from an episode of That’s So Raven. As I finally approached the end of the 4th-grade hallway I read all the teacher’s names on the light wooden doors. I was looking for the name my mom wrote for me on a bright pink sticky note, “Ms. Brown”. I finally found the door I was looking for. I walked into three rows of desks, I quickly sat down and immediately the first bell rang, well buzzed over the intercom. After the bell buzzed Ms.Brown called me up to the front of the room and introduced me. She looked at me as she said my name which was strange until it dawned on me that there is a picture of me from my family hiking trip in my mom’s classroom. After my shaky introduction of me saying my name in front of …show more content…
She said the were in a lockdown and that nobody was allowed out of their rooms and that teachers should do a count of students. I knew what to do because I had done a drill like this a few months ago at my school. Except for this time when the principal said it wasn’t a drill, I suddenly forgot everything that I thought that I had known before. I was trembling but I seemed to be the only one looking as if they were about to pee their pants. The other kids and the teacher Ms.Pierce were all very calm. I thought that it was because this was their school but I was wrong, they were familiar with their surroundings but the practice was from experience. This has happened before. The lockdowns were at least every other month is what the boy who was sitting underneath the desk that was next to mine. I walked briskly on a summer morning on the sidewalk to my college campus, Yale! I had been accepted in the middle of my Canby high school days because of my excellent grades, leadership skills, and my confidence in speeches. The first thing I noticed when I walked into Jasmine Middle School was how big the eighth graders were. I knew that in middle school the sixth graders would be the babies, but it was still kind of a shock at how big eighth graders really were; well, at least I hoped the kids I was looking at were eighth graders. If the group of kids hanging out by the lockers were seventh graders, then eighth graders must be huge. Luckily, after looking around for a few seconds, I spotted my best friend, Georgina Larson by the water fountain. She’s never hard to find, because her hair is light blonde, and she’s always wearing really flashy outfits.…
