As a young adult, a good relationship tends to be about love and ongoing relationships, just like the romance between Bella and Edward, even though these two were different, they based off their relationship on the power of love and passion. To an middle-aged adult, a good relationship would be the hope to maintain positive relations between one and the other through the difficult times they go through as a couple. This idea becomes so true when I take a look at both my parents. They both seem to be content with one another, you can tell that they still love eachother, but I can easily argue that even though they both love one another they’ve mostly become use to one another’s presence and help. When the economy crash back in the mid 2000s, they lost the first house they had purchased together, but since they’ve always had one anothers back, as my dad would be working hard to support both my mom and I, my mother was really careful on how she managed the money that was coming in. Even though they lost their first house together, thanks to my mother’s saving mentality, they were able to purchase another property within six months. This is a perfect example on maintaining hope for a good relationship even during the most difficult times. Also it doesn’t necessarily have to do with just finances, but illnesses and conflicts during raising a child as well, any possible conflict that could disrupt the peace in a marriage. Now onto the last stage, the older adult stage, the idea of a good relationship changes once again. The priority within these relationships is to maintain a really strong bond with one another.
