Imagine waking up in an ambulance with no feeling in your legs and people screaming “ARE YOU OKAY”, when the last thing you remember was taking a handoff from the quarterback and running through a lane and players coming at you in almost slow motion. This is a part of my football story and how football forever has changed my life in daily aspects. From growing up my whole life playing football with my friends to recreational football for kids then High school football. After my football career, including rec and high school, I still continue to keep up with college football, and Professional Football every day of my life. This was not a big deal to me as a child, but as I grew up later in life I always wanted to be that kid that was known as the “Number one Pick”, the person everyone would fight for first and that was what drove me to play rec football in middle school. In Rec we would be able to play different teams from different locations and the best part was your friends were on your team and you …show more content…

Vince Lombardi addressed football as, ¨Football is like life - it requires perseverance, self-denial, hard work, sacrifice, dedication, and respect of authority¨. Throughout my lifetime I have had many experiences, some great, others, not so great, but no matter what, I have put full effort and commitment with everything that I have done. The most valued experience that I have is football. Football has shaped me into the person I am today and has laid a foundation in which I could build my values on. I started playing the game since I was in grade school. Till this day, the excitement of strapping on my pads and hearing the crack of the helmets has not changed one bit.…

Coaches have the power to change lives. I can humbly say this as all my coaches, both good and bad, have taught me in some way what it takes to be a good athlete and most importantly how to be a good human being. They have taught me life lessons that I can only hope to preserve by instilling them into my athletes in my time as a coach. The articles I have chosen to highlight in this essay show how coaches have helped to develop character in athletes, how they pushed them to be the best on and off the field of play, and illustrate how they stepped into the lives of athletes and became so much more than just a coach.…

The moment you decide that you want to play the game of football, your life changes forever. At least mine did from the first time I strapped on my pads. I think Vince Lombardi reflected the essence of football in a small collection of words, “people who work together will win, whether it be against complex football defenses, or the problems of modern society.” The biggest part of the game is teamwork, a concept that I was introduced to early on, but we’ll get to that later. The first time I strapped on pads was in the hot August sun at 12 years old.…

I was immediately taken to the hospital and was diagnosed with a concussion and at least two weeks rest from football. Little did I know, this would be the last game of my life.…

From a young age, I always loved playing football; being out on the field is one of the best feelings ever. The adrenaline, hearing the crowd cheering, scoring touchdowns; it a rush that goes through my veins and I cannot get enough of it. I would play because I enjoyed it, but I had no idea how the simple game of football would change my life for the better.
