Step by step we lined up and walked to the center of the field, all around us the sound of the Olympic music played. I felt as if nobody could touch us, we were on top of the world. Then, we stood proud, hand over our hearts as the National Anthem played and as the last words of the song came to a close, reality returned, nerves overtook me and the butterflies trying to escape from my stomach. For one last time we huddled as a team and yelled, “Cyclones!”
As we will face many different challenges in life, we will also overcome them. This makes us stronger as beings and builds our character into who we are today. Many people will face different types of obstacles in their life, but that doesn’t make them different from you and me. It may take someone years to overcome a difficulty in their life, while it may take you a few weeks or months. Everyone

I could tell from our first day together we were going to be the change, no one had the ambition to play for themselves, we were finally going to be something and at that moment I was glad I didn’t quit. We didn’t need a superstar to win, we needed a team and that is exactly what we got. We were inseparable, best friends and teammates. Together we were the team I had dreamed for. This built my confidence back up and I was ready to be that team player again. At the beginning of the year we set high standards, we were going to be a family again and I was determined to make it happen. Not only did we become that family, we set school records and made it the farthest Eastern View field hockey had ever been. I was so proud to be the captain of the team and happy I never gave up because it lead me to do my best and make the difference I strived to make every single day. I did it with the help of my best friends by my side. I couldn’t be more thankful for the perfect senior year and the perfect team I had the privilege to be a part of because we earned every minute of
