Introduction: While observing teachers teach classes this summer, many things that were taught in this semester played out into those real life situations. I observed things such as the use of assessments, what motivates students, learning and teaching styles and classroom development and management. Each of these things will help me to build my career as a teacher.

Field Experience Site: Engineering For Kids (EFK) The field I chose to observe was a summer camp for students grades Kindergarten through 8th grade. In this camp they taught the students what it means to be an engineer. Each day they had a lesson on what an engineer does and how they can be one. They had a project each day as well and had to make something and they also taught

With the older group I watched the whole time with Group 1 and 2. If a student came up to me and asked for help I helped them out. Most of the older students are independent and like to figure the projects out on their own. With the younger groups, I watched during the lesson, but then helped out when it came to hands on time. With Group 1, I assisted the teacher by passing items out and helped to keep the students on target. We watched as the students made their boats and helped out when they couldn’t quite get it. Then when it came time for the repairs to their boats, the students came to me and I would help each one individually. With Group 2, I walked around and assisted the students in making their robots. Some of these students had a hard time figuring this process out, so they needed more help than others. I worked with two little girls to build a couple different robots. You could tell that they genuinely enjoyed the attention and help. At the end of the week, one of the girls gave me and the other teachers numerous hugs. She was sincerely sad to have to week come to an end and you could tell she greatly enjoyed it. With Group 2, the class was more appreciated than with Group

Field Experience at Wildwood and Ernest Manning My cohort of ten was assigned to visit two schools over a two-week period with a full week dedicated to each location. The two schools were Wildwood elementary and Ernest Manning high school and while their relative closeness to one another would suggest that some Wildwood students may eventually be at Ernest Manning, they are opposites in terms of their status, how they carry themselves, and what they believe to be most important for students. Wildwood elementary is an old school as observed from its small and outdated architecture. Classes are small and at times claustrophobic, especially when packed with 20-25 of the nearly 600 students making it difficult if not impossible to navigate the…

For my job shadowing experience I went to Metro Charter Academy, which is a charter school in Romulus, Michigan. When I went to shadow a classmate/friend also went with me, his name is Martez Pierce. There we shadowed Bernadette Hurd, who was actually my 6th grade math teacher back in the day. Now she is a 6th grade English teacher and we observed her class and asked her multiple questions about the career in general. We also made loads of copies for her and helped her catch up on lesson plans.…

Because of the upcoming science STTAR, my observation of Ms. de la Fuente’s fifth grade class this week was a little different than usual. The teachers switched classes from lunch until one thirty to better prepare the students for the test. In this way, they would learn the information through different teaching styles. This week’s task was about advice on the teaching profession. Some good advice was to stay organized and keep the students engaged.…

At Fireside Elementary school, I was able to validate my love for teaching and my desire to become a teacher. Encouraging the kids and making a difference in the classroom was thrilling. On Friday May 13 I was able to observe two P.E. classes at Mt. Stuart Elementary. There were two sections which I observed, first group was a 1st grade class and then a kindergarten class. It was a very cool experience, since I don’t remember P.E. classes back when I was young. One thing I enjoyed was the teacher’s enthusiasm when the students walked into the gym. He welcomed each student with a smile and with excitement.…

From my own experiences, I am preparing myself to become the good teacher I described in the first question. My experiences that have given me the opportunity to become the good teacher I described before is through field experiences and making lesson plans. In a previous field experience of mine, I had a frustrating and challenging time. The structure of the classes for field experience and the teachers made the semester a bit stressful. However, I knew that I needed to keep pushing and learning as much as I could so that I could be confident in teaching certain subjects.…

I was fortunate to be placed into Mrs. Saoud’s class for the fifteen hours of field experience required in the Integrated Math & Science course. Mrs. Saoud is one of the First grade teachers at W.E. Cherry, a Title 1 school located in Orange Park. She is a dedicated, talented, and hardworking educator and she was eager to share with me as much of her knowledge as possible. My observation hours were spent in a kindergarten classroom at McFall Elementary in Middleville, my home town. I observed Mrs. Young’s class of twenty-five students. I enjoyed observing in this classroom since it was my former teacher and classroom when I was in kindergarten as well. While observing, I could see many different subjects being taught, and multiple ways in which they were taught. Also, it was interesting to notice the reactions the kids gave towards a certain teaching style or towards a specific activity.…

Throughout the semester in our education course, students had the opportunity to observe real teachers and classrooms in action. We observed the different set ups, different teaching styles and the diverse students within the classroom. Given ten hours to accomplish, we set sail in each level of teaching. Early Childhood, Childhood, and Middle Child, each a completely different level and certain levels not right for every future teacher. This fieldwork journey helped solidify my passion for the Childhood level, however; it also confirmed my reasons for not liking the other levels.…

“A good teacher can inspire hope, ignite the imagination, and instill a love of learning”. (Brad Henry) Not every person can be a teacher; it takes a certain kind of individual to be a teacher. Some qualities that teachers consume are patient, kindness, passionate, knowledge, and heart, also there are other many formal qualities that a teacher must need to be successful. At twelve years old in seventh grade I had this teacher that inspired me to become a teacher and ever since then, becoming a teacher has been a priority.…
