Spring 275 Class Reflection

What is fellow? That was the first question I had in my freshman seminar. Although there wasn’t any fellow in my class, I still went to my instructor and friends to fulfill my curiosity. The answers ranged from a teaching assistance to a student who just wanted to be part of the class and yet they were only a piece of the answer. I didn’t know the real explanation till the day I applied to the fellow program. The word “fellow” actually means a lot to me today. It is not only one of the reasons people recognize me on campus, but also something I am very proud of. The role of fellow helped me learn lots of useful skill as well as shape the roads of my future journey. While the spring 275 class taught me the resources to be a better peer mentor, the fall 276 section helped us apply all these skills into real circumstances. The first and foremost lesson I learned as a fellow is the importance of diversity. Every …show more content…
All the experiences with my students and instructors are the nutrients for me to become more mature. I started to see the true meaning of leadership. Instead of just giving them the fish, we should be the people who are teaching them how to fish and giving them the appropriate tools. Although I was a teaching assistance in high school, I was too much of spoon-feeding the students with the answers rather than helping them to see the method of approach. I learned the skills like time managements and mentally as well as emotionally present because I had the opportunity to be in the program. If we can let them see the importance of these skills by themselves, they will be more likely to remember how to apply those in life. There is also a personal gain to be as a fellow. Whenever I see the happiness on their face, I can be more ensure of my future goal as a social worker. I want to be the individual that can bring the lights to all the hardship and be the one who others can lean on when they have

The work that I did throughout the week with Habitat for Humanity helped me to learn about other ways that I could utilize skills that I had already developed while in high school. I had previously never imagined that I would be able to help build a house or do roofing work, but I was able to do both during this trip. This service aspect of the trip also helped to reinforce my love for serving others. I have always found the feeling of knowing that you helped someone and made a difference in his or her life to be well worth the work done. I also learned a lot about myself personally through the journaling that we had to do each day after class and the motto of the week, "challenge by choice".…

As far as my performance in my internship goes, I hope I was able to impress Steven and Shanna and help them out instead of hinder them this semester. In my opinion I feel like I was able to help because I always did what was asked of me and they knew they could rely on me. I was at every class and meeting unless something else for school came up, so I feel like I lived up to what I told them I was going to do at the beginning of the semester. I think my main growth from this internship happened not only in me seeing my leadership styles more clearly, but in my confidence in speaking as well. I always get extremely nervous before I have to talk in front of a group before anything, no matter what.…

His work hours are also very flexible and he is more than willing to help out with the house and children as needed. While working towards my Bachelor’s degree, I took the majority of my courses online. The most entertaining aspect of my sixty hours was volunteering to go on a field trip with my class. It was great to see a school that loves students enough to focus on making them so happy, even outside of school hours. Throughout all my experiences I learned a lot of new and valuable information for my career. Education is about mainly about the teacher and the content presented, however so many other aspects go into a successful classroom…

For a student like my self this class could be seen as not necessary but for students just starting at GTCC this class would be very helpful and in the long run even time saving. Not only does this class teach students how to navigate through GTCC’s many websites it also helps students plan out there future at GTCC and beyond. If I had had this class my first semester I would have had a better understanding of the classes I needed and I probably would have graduated last spring. Another aspect of the course is explaining the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement (CAA) and how it works and applies to the individual, which is quite important when you go to transfer. This class helps you understand the college system in a lot more detail and explains and helps the students navigate through it allowing for a more seamless…

Kreilein was trying to teach them. Since I had taken the same class last year I was able to help this student understand the formulas and questions and now they are ahead of the rest of the class. They just need a little extra help that Mr. Kreilein couldn’t provide because he had other students to think about as well. During my internship I have learned many valuable skills that I would have originally not learned with my class work at school. Although the classes are more demanding, I believe that I would benefit from taking on such a challenging workload to reach my full potential. Taking honors level courses at Pace will help refine my skills in business and also prepare me for the workload I would expect to see in at my first job. I have already taken one honors level class during my freshman year, POL 114: International Relations with Professor Nayak. The class was demanding but fair, and my work was held to a higher standard because it was an honors level course. I earned an A in the course, which was rewarding and made me appreciate the work I put into my assignments which led me to earning my desired grade.…

I have made great strides in my core education by taking my general education requirements. I have worked to address areas where I still lacked from high school with my professors, and to catch up to a college level curriculum. I closed prior gaps in my foundation, and also addressed how I approach college classes. Within a few months, I was hired by the College as an Administrative Assistant and have since gained beneficial professional experience working inside the college administration. My involvement at all levels of the college, from peers and professors to higher levels of management are stronger and more involved than I would have expected before applying.…
