FACEBOOK AS A PRIMARY COMMUNICATION MEDIUM

The popularity of the Internet has exploded in recent years, and social media wasn’t far behind. Among hundreds of social media sites Facebook is ranked the most largest and the most visited website on the internet having over a billion and a half monthly active users, even from a school boy to a busy business man everybody seems to be caught up to this site. People of different ages use Facebook for many purposes, children, teenagers, adults and most especially students mostly use this network for entertainment. The main purpose of Facebook is communication which stated in the main logo of this site is “connect and share with the people in your life”.

Facebook has become an integral part of day-to-day life, especially for students and since Facebook has a lot of features that can help with education. First, Facebook is easy to use. Facebook is definitely accessible to the students, especially the use of communication. Out of 150 students that were surveyed, 62% of the students find it convenient to ask questions and clarifications to their teachers from time to time through Facebook, for some teachers are difficult to find on campus due to the busy schedules and their phone numbers are not shared with a lot of people. You can connect and find your old school friends and college friends also you can connect with your relatives . Also Facebook have billions users so you can make new friends on Facebook from different areas of world. You can connect with people by using Facebook chat, messages, poke, group etc. By using Facebook as network you can improve your relationship and you can do date with interested people. So anyone can take advantage of Facebook to maintain relationship. It serves as the basis for the student’s references when it comes to studies. Although other teachers are capable of using their comfortable sites, it would be hard for the students to use many different accounts. Truly, the students need a major site in connecting with the other students, and even to their teachers. It is Facebook that meets our needs when it comes to communication which plays a vital role in the
