How FFA Changed My Life

When I first joined FFA, I had no idea of the impact it would have on me. Funnily enough, I originally thought of it just as a stepping stool into become a veterinarian- obviously plans have changed. And although my original goal and reason for joining has changed, I’m grateful that I did join, because FFA has impacted me in more ways than one. It goes beyond other experiences because as far as an educational experience goes, it has taught me a great deal than I ever expected. FFA has gone beyond just teaching me about cows, plants, and farming, it’s taught me business, life and leadership skills. In the 10th grade I joined the Farm Business Management career development team. Although it says Farm Business Management it is more just general business management. From the team I have learned about accounting, the economy, and about making smart business decisions. Which is all reasons why I got so involved and passionate about it, and happily for me, that passion earned me the title of High Point Individual in the state. It’s made me think harder and work harder, it’s pushed me out of my comfort zone, and ultimately has made me a different, but better person. I’ve become someone that sets a goal, and persistently strives to reach that goal, even when it’s hard and there seems to be no gain from trying. I’ve become someone who can work with a group of people that are different than each other, because we are not all that different. I can talk about business with confidence, I can speak in front of a group of people, and I can tell the difference between a Brahman and an Angus. I’ve truly learned and experienced more than I ever thought possible, all because I joined FFA five long years
