Expectations
Routines and procedures are essential components to running a smooth and successful classroom. As the teacher of the classroom, it is my duty to let the students know what the expectations are for the routines and procedures of the class. For behavior, my expectations for the students are responsible, respectful, honest, and to give their best efforts. These are important because they are essential traits to becoming a well rounded citizen. By having these traits, it helps students follow the routines and procedures. For learning I expect students to come to class, be willing to look foolish, and accept failure and grow from it. These are important because I cannot teach students that do not show up to class! They are the reason

I am there for my students and I not only want them to successful, but I expect them to be. By setting high expectations, it allows me to send the message to my students that they are capable of doing great things. I want my students to push through their limits and reach levels they thought may have been impossible. Dweck conducted several studies to provide valid proof of how people with a growth-mind set are more successful in her book Mindset the New Psychology of Success. An example Dweck (2010) provided is about good old Babe Ruth and how he was not a natural, but his determination and hard work is what made him legendary (p. 87). I want to encourage my students to have a growth mindset so they can do more things in their life successfully. In order to do so, I want my students to be okay with failure and grow from it; not be discouraged. The high expectations for individuals go for their education in the classroom, outside the classroom and their behaviors as a peer, friend, family member, and human. I want my students to be the best person they can be. Humans are meant to love and I want my students to realize this and accomplish their mission here on …show more content…
I relate attitude to the type of mindset I have for the classroom and most aspects of like; growth-mindset. I identify with the growth mindset because I believe in my students even though I have never met them. In reference to Dweck (2010), teachers with a fixed mindset create an atmosphere of judgement (p. 197) which is something I never want in my classroom. By letting the growth mindset be shown through my teaching, it will influence students and be a great model for them. I do not want to have it just for them, but for myself. I want to grow along with my students so I can be the best teacher for

My Classroom Management Philosophy I believe that classroom management plays a major role in creating a successful classroom. A successful classroom must be a safe learning environment, offer positive encouragement to encourage students to make the right choices, set rules that are understood by the students, and creating responsible students who can take control over their own work. This type of classroom is a major goal of mine because I feel as though the students would really benefit. I am committed to creating a safe environment and creating positive reinforcement within my classroom. In order to create a safe environment I will create an honest, trustworthy, and understanding classroom so that all students feel welcomed to voice their…

It takes the right teacher to help students “All children are capable of learning, if they have the proper motivation and direction from their teachers” (“Philosophy of Education”). They not only love what they do but they love the difference they make in each student; it is their job to encourage their students to do their best. As one teacher says, “It is my duty to see that all my students are motivated” (“Philosophy of Education”). The teachers who acknowledge their students’ good behavior and progress in class will create stronger students than those who point out their mistakes. A positive and caring classroom will make for…

This includes continuously learning new knowledge, creating a positive learning environment, disciplinging consistently, and being able to make the students feel valued with a positive attitude towards the students’ success. Not to mention I would like to teach the lower grades like first grade because I feel this is a key stepping stone in their educational journey. I believe a teacher’s responsibility at this level is to be a good role-model and to keep a positive attitude. At the same time, there is no such thing as excellent teaching. I believe perfection is not always achievable and I want to encourage a safe environment where students are not afraid to learn from mistakes.…

Though, the Apex program is a teacher proof curriculum, which he explained as a needed extra curriculum to help those students that have no other option. As I said before, he wants teachers to take ownership of their classes. He wants the educators to make their curriculum their own by developing their own units and lesson plans. He does not believe that every teacher should be teaching the exact same thing as the teacher next door or across the county. He believes that teachers are different, and need to excel in their differences.…

Also taking away their free time because they were very talkative a day in class. Students will learn by example and this will modify their behavior. Positive and negative consequences will vary behavior but creating an intervention plan with bad students will help them understand and slowly monitor progress. During my field experience I have noticed that my cooperative teacher has taken away fun activities/ labs in class because of the way that students were behaving and this has shown a positive impact on their behavior in future classes because the teacher follows thru with what she says she will do if they do not behave. The ultimate goal of my classroom management is not to manage control of the class but to ensure that everyone meets my expectations in order for them to learn in an effective and supportive environment but to teach students self-discipline and to understand the rules and consequences of my classroom by acting accordingly.…

Everyone knows the importance of getting good grades, but what if it isn’t as important as we all thought it was? What if the idea that grades should be valued above all else is actually hurting students more than it is helping them? We are taught from a young age that we need to try as hard as we can to get A’s in school because if we can, any college will open its doors to us. We learned that good things will happen to us if we can excel in all of our classes. These ideas have worked their way so deeply into our minds, that few people see anything wrong with them.…

Individualized instruction is the best option for my classroom. I began my journey into teaching because of a love for children and wanting to better their lives. Having a student fail a lesson or an entire class because they could not comprehend a lesson in the standardized way of teaching would hurt me as a teacher in a personal way. I take a stand with progressivism because I believe it is important to harness the potential and the passion of each student. A student should never be held back because they have a different way of doing and understanding.…
