Ethics, according to philosophers, originated from religion, human conscience, morals, and good will. Ethics in the work place can be defined as acting in a way that is consistent with a person’s values and their societies or works values. For example, you have someone at work help you write the majority of a report. They come up with many great ideas. When you give this report, you include your coworkers and don’t take all the credit. So in our report, we’re going to be talking about the importance of ethics in the workplace, the roles it has, and some possible ethical dilemmas. To start, we will cover its importance.

Most companies believe when everyone is working together there will be success. It is important for the employees to able to work together as a team. Employees can show collaboration by working together on a project or just teaching new hires. It can be as simple as following the instructions of the manager. When people come together they brainstorm ideas to provide solutions for the task. Brainstorming is the key that brings the group together to offer different ideas and solutions to solve the problem. Everyone should know what their purpose is in this group and should have an equal participation in the project. Mary has a boy name Sam that she does therapy two days a week. One day James ride home on his bike and tells his mom to meet his friend Sam. Mary plays along and introduce herself to Sam. Why is this an ethical dilemma? What should Mary do? Mary can’t be the boy’s counselor if that’s her son’s friend. Sam’s parents would expect favors from Mary. Mary will have to refer Sam to another counselor. There are ethical dilemmas in workplaces that can and can’t be seen. In workplaces like fast food places, grocery stores and retail stores you will see more dishonesty. Mangers having staff complete the task that should have done. Some staff might get away with stuff rather than other staff. People doing personal business on company time.
