Importance Of Equal Pay In Australia

Good morning / Good afternoon everyone, today I will be talking about one of Australia’s major issues which is equal pay. It is a discrimination problem the world is battling, that takes place in workplace and sport. Woman, who are as equally trained and educated and with the same experience as men are not getting equal pay. Woman should get the same pay as men and be treated socially and economically. Should woman get the same pay as men? It’s a question that creates emotions and chaos. In Australia, we have seen that woman get paid 70-90% less than men. If woman get the same pay it will benefit all woman across Australia.

We ask ourselves, why does gender pay inequity happen? This is because men think that woman are not strong and don’t have the skills. If a women can match the skill set of men then they should be able to earn the same wages as man. Mens says woman’s physical capability is higher than woman. In Australia we all follow the basic human rights. This includes ‘We are all free and equal’ which means we are all born free and we should be treated equally. But the question is, is this happening in sport. Well, clearly it isn’t. In 1963, John F Kennedy passed the Equal Pay ACT and today this is not happening to woman at all.

In Australia, we need feminism. Men and woman should not be paid according to their abilities. I personally think it’s unreasonable and unfair and woman should deserve equal pay. Equality in sport and work will benefit us and the society. By doing this it would make huge difference to woman and youth. It will achieve fairness and respect in the workplace and it will create a motivated, productive, respective and happy environment.
