In the 21 century, there is expected to be an increase in health issues due to the continued burning of fossil fuels that contribute to global warming, and most importantly air pollution. (Finch, 2014). Such implications between the governments and country’s sense to become more effective have increased the amount of pollution. For example one of the main reasons of air pollution comes from the burning of gas, coal, or oil. The increased amount of factories in this country have been made to increased amount of production, but at the same time it is increasing the amount of pollution that runs in the air. Smoking is also a problem causing air pollution, but unfortunately it is legalized in this country. “Our lives begin to end, the day we become silent about the things that matter.” -Martin Luther King Jr. Therefore, I agree with Martin Luther King Jr, for this reason I can see how some people are so blind to the point where it could destroy our earth. In my opinion, I understand that, most people feel, when we dump trash into the water, it only affects the ocean but they are wrong. Everybody is affected by it and personally I sense that we are all too sightless to realize what is happening. For example, if somebody were to poison my food, air or water they would go to jail right? On the other hand, if the earth’s food, air and water get poisoned by people why don’t they go to jail? This paper will clarify the history of ocean pollution, the…

Pollution can be described as a contamination of air, water, and soil by introducing foreign contaminants. Some major causes of pollution are burning fossil fuels, agricultural, and factory waste products. With the introduction of these contaminants, they can cause detrimental effects to the environment. There are many forms of pollution. The most common being air, water, agricultural, nutrient, and land pollution. When looking at nutrient and water pollution there are many negative effects. Pollution can create large dead zones, or areas in water with little or no oxygen, where aquatic life cannot survive. Hypoxia is the prime reason for these dead zones where algae blooms consume oxygen as they die and decompose. These dead zones are a major issue causing entire ecosystems to collapse. There are an estimated one hundred and sixty six dead zones just in the United States. Some major dead zones are in the Chesapeake Bay and Gulf of Mexico. Acid rain is also another major contributor to lost environments. Acid rain is caused by nutrient pollution in the air which damages lakes, streams, estuaries, forests, and grasslands across the world. Another major issue, especially in the worlds larger cities, is smog which is caused by air pollution from cars and machines. In these large cities people are beginning to wear masks in order to protect themselves from the smog. With all the harmful…
