The making of a good leader is a subject that has been explored, researched worldwide for thousands of years. As a result, there is a plethora of information available to scholars studying the topic of what makes a good leader. Some of which research is rather subjective, however there is a common denominator of intrinsic characteristics that make a good leader. The authors of our required reading have done a fantastic job gathering and placing them into ten distinct truths of what makes a good leader. I am going to list the ten fundamental areas of what makes a good leader and explain why.

3. Drawing upon draw upon insight, outsight, and foresight, how do these impact being a good leader?
Having insight is pulling from your past experiences and is invaluable as a leader looks forward to future possibilities within the organization he or she is leading as well as looking towards the future. A perfect example of this are the leaders of magazines and newspapers who realized the way print news was completed in the past changed drastically since the invention of the first printing press. They then needed to have the foresight to embrace the changed of their delivery methods when the internet became a common standard for distribution. Those who failed to embrace technology are now out of business. Over the past fifteen years, over 2000 newspapers that did not embrace the internet, realized substantial profit losses of over 30% or more. This is just one example of if a leader is narrow mind and resistant to change, he and the group he leads are doomed to failure if not recognized and dealt with.
