This position represents a great opportunity for me to put my experience and knowledge amassed over the past few years to good use. I have recently graduated from Curtin University with a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Librarianship and Corporate Information and since 2011 I have been working at the North Metropolitan College of TAFE (formerly Central Institute of Technology). I am keen to be heavily involved in the changing nature of the public library and am enthusiastic about being part of initiating exciting events that can attract people to the library.

Each week I have to print out the new overdues, for which I then check the shelves to see if the item is definitely with the customer, then I send out the notices either by post or e-mail and contact the patron (if the item is very overdue) to let them know that it needs to be returned. I keep records of each overdue (sorted in files), registering the actions being taken and any communication concerning it. When an overdue is cleared, the accompanying documentation is disposed in accordance with privacy and confidentiality. To accomplish this I need to incorporate excellent time management skills to ensure that overdue library items are followed up on in a timely manner. I usually schedule this as a number one priority on a weekly basis. This procedure ensures that the library does not have a mass of items not being returned and achieves a correctly systemised library catalogue. My organisational and time management skills help the library in regards to overdue library items, make sure that procedures are being followed by the customers and that missing/lost items are managed in an appropriate
