It’s crucial that every child learns how to interact with others. The classroom and playground are perfect controlled settings to help your child develop critical social skills that can not be developed in a home school(Amy Ryan). When watching homeschooled children, I notice that they have a weird quirk to them. They do not understand children their age and will act way younger or older than the age they are. One of my good friends in highschool was homeschooled until her freshman year, and the way the kids acted in school shocked her. She was not prepared for the real life she would soon be facing after her high school diploma. She had a hard time making friends because she did not know how to talk to people who were her own age. Social skills are an important skill to learn by high school because after that you are thrown into the real world where no parent can shield you from the way people really are in life. Hi Delise, Yes, I think a child should attend the school that is going to benefit their education the most. The main focus should always be on the best education possible for the child. However, I do have a problem with home schooling, it seem to cut off the one thing kids really need, communication and interaction with other kids their own age. Interacting and communication skills are very important for the student, and I am not sure home schooling is the best idea. I also find it kind of funny how teachers must attend college to obtain a teaching certificate, but to home school your child does require this certificate, it makes no sense to me.…

I have always cared a lot about children and their education. Thus, making sure that they get some sort of education growing up is something that I care very deeply about. This topic is incredibly important to me because not only have I worked in a public elementary school, but I have also worked with children who are homeschooled. When talking with the children who are homeschooled, they seem to be happier overall, and their life seems to be less complicated than those who attend public school.…

Yet literacy rates before then, before compulsory public schooling, are estimated to be around 90% to 98%. Men such as Abraham Lincoln, Samuel Langhorne Clemens (Mark Twain), and Frederick Douglass were able to educate themselves and move on to contribute greatly to society without the benefit of public education in any form, as did most Americans in that era(Sowell, Inside 18-24,27). In fact, in many countries today, countries such as Switzerland, where it is estimated that only 23% of its citizens attend public high school, have the highest income per capita in the world and more scholarly individuals in comparison to other countries. This is generally attributed to the lack of public education (Murray Real 33,34). The same show similar literacy rates to that of early America, where little was available in the way of public…

Homeschooling, also known as home education, involves the education of children at home instead of receiving education at a traditional private or public school. According to Bauman (2011), many students are schooled at home and the number in the United States is growing at 15 to 20 percent per year. It is a system in which parents prefer their children to be educated at home and argue that it is more beneficial for them. Children go to school so they can learn and be taught a variety of subjects by a teacher qualified to teach them, alternatively to the lessons parents give their children when growing up at home. Parents however who decide to homeschool may say it is because they don 't trust the board of education to teach their children properly, but what they don 't realize is that they aren 't necessarily qualified unless they have a teacher 's license, even if it 's technically legal to teach your children without one. Teaching when your own personal views prevents children forming their own opinion does not help children, and that biased education starting at a young age can affect their interpretation of everything thereafter.
