If selected for admission, I believe I can make many important contributions to Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry 's Class of 2020. Some of those contributions include my motivation and experience in the field of optometry, certain character traits I posses, as well as the diversity I can bring to an already diverse student body. My experience in the field of healthcare and my motivation to become the best optometrist I can be are two of the most important contributions I can give to the class of 2020. What I have been able to absorb during the last seven months in the field of optometry has not only helped me develop particular skills, but it has also opened doors to a majority of subjects I know nothing about. I come from a mixed family that has origins all over Europe and the Middle East; Lebanon, Poland, Ireland, and Germany to be exact. I come from a heavily populated Arabic community and have learned not only the language, but the cultural aspects that tend to tag along. Growing up I was fortunate enough to have parents that took me all over the world, which has increased my exposure to language and culture. I believe that being culturally diverse is a major ingrediant when it comes to being a healthcare professional. Not all patients have the same culture and not all patients see certain treatment methods as acceptable. As a culturally diverse optometrist I want to be able to understand the different cultural needs and be able to act accordingly. Diversity along with extensive communication skills will increase my effectiveness as a health care provider. I feel that Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry will allow me to play my part and immerse me in cultural diversity and help me learn from cultures I have yet to be exposed to. Although my contributions to the class of 2020 can be considered minuscule juxtaposed to what Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry has prepared for me, I believe the combination of both of our benefactions will help mold me into one of the future 's best
