In such a group where members have different orientations, ideas and social background the use of discriminatory language, verbal bullying etc. is to be discouraged.

According to Giddens “a racist is someone who believes that a biological explanation can be given for characteristics of superiority or inferiority supposedly possessed by people of a given stock”.
Racism leads to abuse which can have different forms from neglect from other members, verbal abuse and also physical abuse. Victims of racism re subject to negative mental health and poor academic outcome. Being in such diverse group and having its members accepting such diversity is therefore imperative. This acceptance should not derive only from young individuals but from the members of the staff. Having young people exposed to racism at a young age surely discourages self and group acceptance and tolerance towards others. It is easier for young individuals to integrate at such a young age and therefore diversity helps eliminate the idea of racism which might develop at a later stage during their life.

There are different forms of abuse varying from verbal to physical or sexual
