There is different kind of organizations. The kind of organization that Heffernan (2015) is presenting is decentralized organization. According to Karen and Kirst-Ashman (2011), “decentralized organizations provide and encourage broad worker discretion and also workers need a broad range of discretion to address a wide variety of problems” (Karen and Kirst-Ashman, 2011, p. 199). Heffernan (2015) feels that organization should give their employee the opportunity to be free to express their thoughts and be able to support each other. People also have to be able to ask for help when they need because that is the only way that things are going to be done. The first one is the Warrior. Karen and Kirst-Ashman (2011) states that the warrior “discounts the value of the system and often enters into a win-lose conflict and they also complains about everything” (Karen and Kirst-Ashman, 2011, p. 230). Because Heffernan (2015) talks about people working together, this person will not work in an organization and they would not work well in a group setting. This also refers to the chicken story when Heffernan refers to the Superchickens, that “for the past 50 years, we have run most organizations and some societies along the superchickens or by superstars” (Heffernan, 2015). We want to be the best, we strive to do by competing with other for the best spot and the best thing so that company would recognize us and pick us but sometime working groups is the best way to go. This person thrives for attention and wants to work alone because they want to be recognized and once they do not get what they want, they complain about it, they complain about everything. They have “Bad attitude,” and because of their bad attitude, they are typically the ones to be fired first. The fifth is the Machine. The machine “intent is to abide by the official bureaucratic rules no matter what and they dislike conflict” (Karen and Kirst-Ashman, 2011, p. 230). Social worker play the role in the ongoing development of the organization by brings held accountable for the things that they do. . According to Karen and Kirst-Ashman (2011), “accountability is an individual worker’s and the profession’s responsibility to clients and the community to work effectively and achieve the goals that have been established” (Karen and Kirst-Ashman, 2011, p. 237). A social worker’s job is to help individuals, families, and groups of people to cope with the problems that they are facing and to help them improve their lives.
