Death is an Integral Part of Life
Many people may have heard the saying that life is too short, or you only live once. Doctors have been motivated to prolong life, but death is not the enemy. The beautiful life cycle starting from birth, growing up into an adulthood, reaching old age and finally dying is all a part of that cycle. We all must die eventually. People that wish to live longer should not be aided by science because there are many natural ways to stay alive without science.
The human race has proven to live longer than in the past. One reason why our earth is overpopulated is because of the increased amount of elderly people. If scientists continue to come up with ways to prolong life we will have to pay the consequences in the long run; not to mention, just because people are living longer does not mean they are living happy disease free lives. Karen Weintraub points out, “The majority of older Americans live with at least one or two chronic ailments, such as arthritis, diabetes, heart disease, or stroke.” As people get older the more age related diseases arise. According to Guy Brown, “Imagine the economic consequence of providing one-to-one round-the-clock care for decades on end for millions of demented or disabled people" (42). Equally important, what would be the consequences for our actions?

Researchers took a sample of her blood just last year and found out that her stem cell supply almost completely diminished. The average young person could have 1500 of the stem cells, but the Dutch woman only had two left. Furthermore, our bodies rely on stem cells for among the many reasons blood, and skin. If there is not enough blood in the body, then the body starts to shut down, or die. If old people live longer lives, then what will they die from in the end?
