History and Background Mark and Louise Zwick founded Casa Juan Diego in 1980. Casa Juan Diego, located in Houston, Texas, provides a safe home for undocumented families that come from all over the world, seeking asylum. Many of these families are escaping from gang, political, and domestic violence and come to Casa Juan Diego in hopes of starting a new life here in the United States. This community filled with undocumented families who are attempting to start over, searching for jobs and a better life here. Casa Juan Diego gives them a home, food, and clothing. I interviewed a nurse named Holly and she said that, “Casa Juan Diego follows the Corporal Works of Mercy. For example some of the Corporal Works of Mercy are: feed the hungry, clothe the naked, shelter the traveler and comfort the sick.”
