I think it's important that the cover letter and resume have no errors and als stand out more then other submission because since employers don't take long to read the resume and cover leter they want to see if you have the requirements. Also if you have something unique that can get the employer's attention you can land an interview. When writing a cover letter or resume you want to sound professional so the employer won't think you have lacked on education. Also it would show that you care about your resume and cover letter. They would want to see the type of person that you are. Always express how you can make the company
