However, if life was this simple it would not be so interesting. The realization that there was a different type of work that needed to be done, led me to therapy, where I completely fell in love with Counseling Psychology and the profession of a Psychotherapist. It was a long and difficult journey during which I developed a new and healthy perspective on life. I have successfully made sense of my past and was able to re-parent myself, heal, grow and definitely learn. In the midst of this hard work, I have found the meaning in all of it and my purpose in life became clear. I went through those experiences because I could handle them and come out of them thriving. My job now is to help others to do the same. I feel as if I have been groomed to become a Mental Health Counselor since I was born. I certainly did not view it this way for the longest time, but this is the beauty of now seeing the big picture. Personal growth is like breathing, it is ever present, and it never stops until we stop. Whether it is mood, trauma or stress disorders, unhealthy relationship cycles, personality disorders or other troubles, I believe that as a skilled therapist, I will be able to help my clients build a healthier and more peaceful way of life. I am not under any illusion that this profession is easy, or consistently gratifying, or not emotionally draining, but I do believe in the power of therapy, especially for those who are serious in their intentions. After gaining experience in private practice, I plan to open an agency where I will supervise, encourage, and inspire a new generation of therapist interns. I anticipate building life-long relationships within the mental health community, to collectively execute effective programs for populations that otherwise would not have access to therapy or would have strong reservations about it. Being fortunate enough to have a multicultural background and spending years working with diverse populations, gives me the awareness of the therapeutic needs of cultures that are not readily accepting of it
