Importance Of Contributions To Plano Percussion

Music has expanded many boundaries and presented many opportunities in my life. As part of an elite organization of student musicians on campus, I have found outlets for friendships, performances, and leadership. My contributions to Plano Percussion have given me a significant opportunity to inspire others to musical growth through the facilitation of ensembles, instruction of middle school drumline, and leadership of the Clark and Plano Senior High schools as drum captain. This opportunity has impacted my viewpoints of unity and accountability and given me a community in which to get involved. “Be the inspiration that inspired you to be here today.” Learning the Plano Percussion mantra when in sixth grade, I often underrated its value …show more content…
My friendships within the organization have flourished as I continue to meet new people within the percussive arts. Similarly, the organization gives ample opportunity for me to participate in community events such as fundraisers and parades. And finally, it has given me an outlet to demonstrate my talents to parents, students, and administrators throughout Plano, playing in the PanCat steel drum band at grocery stores, libraries, retirement centers, and elementary schools. I have also gained a great deal of respect for percussive arts instructors and the impacts that each have had as well as their dedication to the growth of the community. And as they do, I wish to have impact on those around me. I am involved with community service through the Plano Public Library System and have accumulated more than 350 hours of student teaching and mentoring for Plano middle school percussionists who share my passion by participating in our 12 week long preparation for the spring percussion show.
