Narrative Essay On Percussion

Every year, the percussion classes at Park City High School go to compete at the Utah Day of Percussion. It’s a huge competition where any Utah high school, junior high or middle school percussion group can come to get judged and hopefully win some awards! It’s always at a different high school which is neat because you never really know what to expect. I’ve only been twice but it’s super fun, all you do the whole day is walk around, enjoy the music and perform your pieces. My first year was great, no problems, however last year it was a little rough. I usually stick with my main percussion buddies: Ali, Audrey, Bella and Salina. And last year, it was at Juan Diego, a highly Catholic school. So, after we came back from lunch we went into a back hallway, away from all the chaos, to talk. The whole day was a little much, with so many people and not many places to escape to. All we wanted to do was find some peace …show more content…

Then, about an hour later, some of our other class mates told us Mr. Taylor, one of our teachers, wanted to talk to us. Now I was scared, I didn’t have a reason to be but Mr. Taylor is about as scary as it gets. So Bella, Audrey and I left the performance we were at and started walking to the hallway we were in before. All I remember was that the hallways was mostly dark except for two or three lights on and Mr. Taylor standing at the end of the hall with a different lady. It was a long walk to the end of the hallway with so many different things running through my head. Do I tell the truth? Do I try to take some of the blame so Audrey isn’t alone? What’s he gonna say? He probably thinks I’m such a bad person. When we finally got there Mr. Taylor spoke

The event that I decided to go was BYU Baroque Ensemble, a production made by BYU students, taking place at Madsen Recital Hall Harris Fine Arts Center on November 3. The idea of making a baroque orchestra is where musician get together to make a perfect composition of music, the baroque orchestra is made up mostly of stringed instruments, when you listen you feel something different that makes you see it from another perspective, you just can’t stop listening and focus on every note that the musicians are playing. The type of instruments that were utilized in conjunction were the basso continuo, played by a viol, cello or bassoon. Other parts were added between the melody and the bass by a keyboard instrument, usually a harpsichord or organ and the development of tonal harmony, in which the melodic voices movement remains under the functional chord progression.…

On November 12, 2015 I attended the Veterans Day Jazz free form concert held at CBC’s choir room. This was the first time I ever went through the music/art building and it was pretty cool. The choir room looked, well like a choir room; inspirational posters on the wall, instruments, sound system, etc. When I first walked into the room I was bit overwhelmed with the amount of people in the small to medium sized room. There was a total of three high schools performing and of course CBC.…

    1. Describe how you might contribute to a lesson given to a group of seven year old children learning to play percussion instruments. Keeping a group of children aged seven engaged is key, whilst the teacher is discussing and using speech to explain about the instruments my contribution would best be given by demonstrating in turn how the instruments are correctly to be played and demonstrate the sound the instrument makes. Perhaps moving around the class spending a little time with each child as they pass around the instruments to have their own turn.…

My First Time Babysitting It was a dark rainy Friday evening, school just let out for the weekend and I was free except I still had one thing to do left, as I was doing a weird walk jog across the campus while trying not to get soaked just to get to the main building, as my phone started to make this weird ringing noise and obviously I got a bunch of looks. When I looked at my phone I saw that my dad was calling me and when I answered my dad told me not to walk home in the rain and just wait it out. Once I got to the main high school building, I walked through the maze of hallways and lockers, and finally just finally I made it to the front of the building. It was still pouring down rain when I looked out of the window, by this time the storm was almost through…
