Personal Statement: My Goals For Successful Schools

As a teacher your first contact with parents and guardians will set the stage for communication the rest of the school year. It is important to connect with parents and to build a positive relationship with them in the beginning of the school year. As teachers, we know that children do better in school when parents are involved in their children 's school. Prior to the first day of school, I will make home visits with each parent or guardian. I will definitely have phased-in-attendance at the beginning of the school year. I will invite parents to stay with their children the first session; my first session will consist of six students paired with their parents. I will then tell all the students to sit down on the carpet so I can go over classroom rules and expectations. I will give the students a walking tour of the classroom. The children will see items such has computers, cabinets and supplies in the classroom. I will tell the students a little about myself; then I will ask each child to tell me something about themselves such as, what is their favorite color? I want the children to be excited about their first day of class and tell their parents or guardians great things such as, the friends they have made on the first day of school, how they had so much fun on the playground and how they can’t wait to come back tomorrow to have even more
