Classroom arrangement is a crucial part in having an effective classroom management. A classroom arrangement allows the teacher to observe, walk around, and help their students throughout the day in the classroom. Having an inefficient classroom arrangement allows time for students to become off task, disruptive, and to get up from their seats to wander around the classroom. Creating a layout that is efficient and easy to move around in allows students to learn, and participate more effectively. The classroom plan in Figure 1 shows a room layout for the students to have group time, reading, and computer time during different activities throughout the day. Classroom expectations will include the classrooms daily routine, and transitions between different areas in the building or between classroom activities. Having classroom expectations posted and implemented into our classroom before our students come into class on the first day allows us to develop structure, and allows our students to know how they will be expected to behave, and how they are expected to complete their daily agendas. Having the students know the homework they will be expected to complete, and turn lets them know of the steps they must take to receive a deserving grade. When implementing classroom expectations, we should also make it clear what the consequences will be if certain tasks are not completed, and let them know a goal or reward that they can work together to receive if things run smoothly, and completed properly such as, extra free time, or an activity of …show more content…
By creating a safe and positive learning environment, we can build a connection between the student and the teacher. Providing a type of connection between the student and the teacher will allow the student to trust, and confide in us when a problem is brought up to them. In providing a safe and positive classroom it is important that when a problem is shown that we address it immediately, appropriately, and effectively. Do not address a child’s behavior in front of the class, as this would cause unnecessary embarrassment, and creates an opportunity for other classmates to bully and intimidate the child with the problem we are addressing. If a student is being disruptive during silent work time and wont complete their work, we would go to the child to find out if there may be a part of the assignment the student is not understanding. As a teacher, we would then find a way help the student to fully understand what is being asked of them. we would do this by, asking if the student is having trouble understanding the assignment, and then explain and walk through the problem areas with the child. Then for the being disruptive part, we would let them know that other students are trying to complete their tasks, and it is not fair to them that the child are distracting their peers. We would also allow the child to go away from the other students to get some of their disruptiveness
