In today’s classroom, the educational population is increasingly becoming more diverse, and with the increase in change and diversity comes new needs and challenges. One of the challenges is having a classroom that is flexible enough to adapt with this current trend, all while enhancing the learning experience for students equally. In recent years, there has been an increase in the use of technology and in diversity among students, and this can challenge the current design of the classroom.
Interdisciplinary problem solving is fundamental in today’s architectural design process. Modern architecture blends the worlds of both art and technology, all while processing structures around our current social principles and needs. So it comes as no surprise that design plays a vital role in today’s classroom. Having a well implemented classroom design can help inspire, motivate and stimulate both students and teachers. Even the quality of the electrical lighting plays a role in learning and on concentration. Light is essential for humans to function, is essential for mood and cognition, essential for vision, can evoke emotions, and regulates bodily processes such as alertness and sleepiness.
