Have you ever wondered how the colossal New York skyscrapers and bridges are built? Every tourist who has visited New York is astounded by the beauty of the city, however, I see NY with a different vision. Even though I spent my infancy in the relatively small and ancient city of Cusco, with just a few impressive and interesting constructions, due to my father’s profession in civil engineering, I was always connected to the construction world. Since I was a child, I have asked myself many questions related to the construction world.ironically the more I grew, the more questions I had. Like Socrates once said, “I know that I know nothing.” My connection with civil engineering started with my father’s career in civil engineering. …show more content…
I was amazed by how civil engineering has been developed from trial and error until it became something almost perfect, the way it uses mathematics and physics to ensure or enhance the welfare of a group of people, and the way people’s lives change with the construction of a highway, a bridge, or even a large edifice. I admired the way civil engineers can go days without sleeping, or even risk their own lives to do what many people call impossible. Then I understood why I liked it so much. Civil engineering is trying to make life easier and more secure. It astounding the way people’s lives can change with a well-constructed highway, bridge, or park. It links people, creates commerce, and creates opportunities. Civil engineering just needs an idea and the will to bring that idea into reality. That is why it is so amazing. As a teenager, I have my head full of ideas and question I just an opportunity to polish my ideas and answer my questions in order to improve society in the future.
