The referee blew a whistle, I encouraged my teammates and said, “Let’s go, We got this!” The ball started to roll. The bleachers were full of spectators from both teams. Like I said above, this game was the most important game so far because three teams were tied at 1st game with two games left. One of my teammate passed the ball toward me and I took and curving into the goal and making the swish sound on the net. “GOAL” my teammates screamed out loud. The word not only resembles success, but also carries a large feeling of satisfaction. I remember vividly the first time I was really affected by the word. On a beautiful Friday evening in September, I, along with my football teammates were playing Platteville for the third game of the season. The game was a battle up until half time with neither team really breaking through. It was a tight game, very hard played by both teams.…

I went into my next year of playing wanting to feel that same excitement I felt that final game. Sophomore year I was picked to try out goal because our JV goalie was now the varsity goalie. I agreed and at first I hated goalie I had to stay in a low position and block the balls from entering the goal. Not to mention the balls were the softest and I have the buries to prove their power. A few weeks later I actually started to enjoy being goalie when we had our first game I was so nervous because I didn’t want to let my team down or be scored on.…

There was only 10 minutes left until we had to play usually varsity plays first but junior varsity was playing first this time and i was nervous but on the outside i felt confident. The clock kept ticking and ticking like as if a bomb was about to go off but for me this bomb was exploding all my nervous feelings and the ashes were my confidence or as i would say my sparkle. The Ref blew his whistle and the players had to get in their positions.…

One way I showed care, or tried to at the least, was today after our devastating loss against Saint Francis College. To all the seniors that cared about me as an quiet incoming freshman, I owe them everything that I have accomplished this year. So, when they laid out on the field after conceding a PK in double overtime, I felt it my personal mission to help each and every one of them up and tell them about the great game that they had just played. It is because of this interconnected care that we have between each other that we were even in the position that we were…

Usually this is not a smart move to do as it reduces our defense. The whistle blew again and the corner kick was headed towards the middle of the box, nowhere close to where I was. A defender headed it out hoping to reduce the threat but instead it landed right onto my chest to which I controlled the ball, pushed it in front of me and took a hard kick without really thinking where it would land. The ball decided to follow my motion and flew right into the top right corner of the goal giving no chance for the goalie to even react. My whole team came in rushing towards me congratulating me on my first goal ever with the team.…
