Why Study Abroad

Central College Study Abroad. To most people these words may not mean anything, but to Central College students they open a door of experience and learning. For myself, it means I get to explore the world I have never seen before. Some other things that have inspired me to study abroad is my commitment to learning about other cultures, my love for big cities, and the talk on campus about how amazing of an experience it is.

All my life I have been obsessed with big cities. The people, the excitement, the noise that never ends is something I dream about. Although New York is my favorite city, I believe that is because I have never been able to explore outside of the United States. I hope that Central College Study Abroad can change that for

After speaking with some of my peers, some of the reasons they gave included the fact that it is a resume builder, you get to create relationships and make worldwide connections, and it gives you out of the classroom learning. All of which are important factors to me. I am determined to experience different ways of learning and making connections all around the world is something that everyone should experience in their lifetime. During my time here at Central, I have spent a lot of time talking to professors who have all said the same thing. Study Abroad. Some of the people saying this are saying it because of their own study abroad experiences, but some are simply telling you to do what they didn’t. Many people regret not studying abroad because rumor has it once your graduate, it is hard to travel. Some reasons for this include time and money restraints. This is what I appreciate about the study abroad program. Time is not an issue because no matter what I will be in school during that semester, and I will be paying virtually the same amount of money, which takes care of that …show more content…
For myself, they are specific to my goals and the things I love being around and learning about. This includes becoming more culturally competent for myself and my career. I am also hoping to study abroad because of the good things I have learned about the program and going abroad in general. Being young means I should be taking advantage of the opportunities I have and experiencing the world.
