The hip/hop and R&B genres have been greatly affected by this as many of these artists rely heavily on suggestive themes and language to express them. Songs have been altered in many ways to respect each country’s policies; the suggestive words are often distorted, muted or replaced with a ‘beep’ or in some cases completely changed. Throughout the years rap songs and similar music have been subjected to many controversies as their lyrics are often very violent or contain sexual references which can be easily picked up by a younger audience. So, many radio stations throughout the world follow the above methods of censoring music as to not offend any of their audience. At the same time, the censored material may be a part of the core of the song so it affects what the artist wishes to express.
