Brahmagupta Research Paper

Brahmagupta and His Significant Discovery Brahmagupta was born in 598 in Rajasthan, India and he was an Indian astronomer that may not get all the credit he deserves. Being an orthodox Hindu, he was very interested in the Hindu yuga system that focused on the measurement of the ages of mankind. Even though he mostly devoted his time to Indian astronomy, Brahmagupta when writing his books implemented a great amount of mathematics. This was seen especially in his most famous work Brahmasphutasiddhanta where he talked about mathematics in chapters twelve through eighteen. The interest in math sparked a discovery that is arguably the most important in the evolution of all mathematics that is even used in today’s twenty-first century. It is fascinating to think it was thought of back in the seventh century. This was not only a mathematical term, but could also be related to an economical standpoint like he showed with these rules. His overall concept of debts is the basis for what nations use today. For example, if a country gives something to another country, and receives nothing in return then therefore they are in debt to the country that gave them that something. This is in other words what Brahmagupta referred to as a negative, and when the country returned the favor they would be even, or in other words zero. This concept is still used today especially with banks. If a person has negative amount of funds, then they owe the bank money, and if they have no money then they can’t buy anything. If they have money and purchase objects equal to or more than their original amount, then they won’t have any money or will owe the bank
