Boy Scouts of America v. Dale is a Supreme Court case that occurred in 2000. The question of the case was whether or not the application of New Jersey’s public accommodations law violated the Boy Scouts’ First Amendment right of expressive association to bar homosexuals from serving as troop leaders. Prior to the case, James Dale was the assistant scoutmaster of Troop 73. He had been an Eagle Scout, and after reaching the age limit at which he could be a member of the Boy Scouts, joined the adult division as an assistant. Around the time he joined the adults in Boy Scouts, he also left home to attend Rutgers University.…
On April 26, 2000, in front of the Rehnquist Court, the Boy Scouts of America vs. Dale case was tried (Oyez). The advocates that stood before the supreme court were George Davidson, representing the petitioner, Boy Scouts of America; and Even Wolfson who argued for the respondent, James Dale (Oyez). Later, when brought before the Appellate Division of the courts, the Boy Scouts of America…

It was they who pushed me to keep trying and striding to succeed and without them, I would not have accomplished what I have today. Throughout high school, I have been involved in many activities. I started off with the STEM academy in my high school. In the STEM academy, we held special events that teach people, especially kids, about new experiments and science-related careers. Girl Scouts has been an important part of my life since I can remember. Girl Scouts helped me to learn to be practical, independent, strong, and most importantly, a leader. Put simply, Girl Scouts has molded me into the extremely driven person I am today. So you can imagine the shock and dismay I felt when my troop disbanded earlier this year. Though we were all members of the highest level of Girl Scouts as a girl could be, I thought the troop would remain intact until I went to college.…
I really enjoy being involved in Boy Scouts because it makes me feel like I am an important contributor to my community and the younger scouts moving up. Every Tuesday I go to a meeting with my troop to talk about future events that are going to occur in the near future. They consist of camping trips, service projects, day trips, and any other things that we had planned. There is one problem that I have with the Boy Scout meetings though. Once we get done talking about the events, we wait and do nothing for the rest of the hour and a half.…
