My Sophomore year, I was a speaker at the first ever International Conference at River Bluff High School. There, I introduced guest speakers, and spoke in an assembly called "The Benefits of Learning a Second Language". For my Chinese class, I helped organize a field trip to China Town in Atlanta, Georgia, to celebrate Chinese New Year. I helped with budgeting, I made lunch reservations at Little Sheep Mongolian Hot Pot, and I organized a meditation session at the Drepung Loseling Monastery. The field trip was incredibly amazing to witness. The students were speaking Mandarin to the locals, asking about the "hóng bāo" and wishing everyone a "xīn nián kuài lè" (happy new year). In 2014, I embarked on a journey to hike, camp, and explore the Grand Canyon for a week. In 2015, I went on a trip with tours to Italy and Spain. This past summer I went on a three week EF Tours trip which included travel to England, The Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany, Austria, Italia, the Vatican, Spain and Portugal. I then finished the summer by studying in Salamanca, Spain, for a month. I became immersed in Spanish culture and became fluent in Spanish. It really benefitted me as I was able to skip Spanish 4 Honors, and go straight to Spanish 5 Honors Heritage. It also was great because my Dad was a diplomat at the US Embassy in El Salvador during that time, so when I went there this last Thanksgiving break, alone, I was able to effectively communicate with the natives and explore the culture more in
