Graduation from teachers college will be an exciting moment in my life, as I am sure it is for many. One challenge for teachers in small towns who work in small schools is that they often have to teach more than one grade. Teachers face many challenges every day and it is important to remain effective in the process of completing all of these challenges. There are many ways teachers can be good at what they do, not everyone has to be the same. Effective teachers care about their students learning (Woolfolk, Winne, & Perry). They ensure their students get the best education they can by building a relationship with everyone in their classroom which will help support learning. From creating flexible lesson plans, to dealing with students who have special needs, to grading and assessing their work and behaviour. During all of this, it is important to remain an effective teacher by caring about students in and our of the classroom. This can be done by building a relationship with lesson plans, and reflecting on your work after every school day. An effective teacher will combine their knowledge and lesson plans with fun creative ways to learn. For my lesson plan on reproduction and heredity, I planned to be an effective teacher starting with assessing my student 's previous knowledge on the topic. Following this, I moved on to my lesson plan on the subject where I ensured all students were learning at a proper grade level without falling behind. I kept my student 's attention by explaining the importance of the subject and finished with a fun educational game for everyone. After the lesson plan, I would finish by assessing the two groups of students with a short quiz appropriate for their grade level. This would allow me to determine where all of my students stand on the topic. It would also allow me to address any students who may require special attention. There are many challenges faced in each and every lesson plan but this does not mean that they cannot be overcome. Effective teachers who truly care about their students will always be able to overcome whatever is thrown at

Two of the Effective Educator Goals that I have chosen to provide rationale on are, Manages & Motivates and Reflects on Practice. I feel very strongly that most students, when given a positive, encouraging, and nurturing learning environment, can motivate themselves to be socially interactive and engaged in their own education. When students see your positive energy, feel your desire to learn, and know they are an asset to your classroom; most often will put forth the effort to be an active participant. I have had differentiated environments to meet the needs of certain individuals to promote a supportive and meaningful environment that was conducive to learning.…

Teachers have the ability to educate, challenge, and expand the minds of children who will shape and refine the world’s future. They inspire students to become scientists who may discover a cure for cancer, doctors that will save lives, or athletes who will break records. Children depend on teachers to provide them with every opportunity to become great, which is why earning a teaching certificate should not be an easy process. Today, one has to pass the Praxis test, obtain a 3.0 GPA, and complete the assigned college courses to earn a teaching certificate. Due to these simple requirements, unqualified college graduates are becoming ineffective teachers that are failing to assist their students in the right direction.…

Teachers more now than ever are leaving the field of education because they are being expected to deliver results that they might not have been trained well enough for. In order to establish effective and successful practices in the classroom, America must create strategic educational programs that prepare teachers to meet the needs that American school systems require. “Persons preparing to teach should be required to meet high educational standards….. Colleges and universities offering teaching preparation programs should be judged by how well their graduates meet these criteria.”(Bell, pg. 38, 1983) According to A Nation At Risk by The National Commission on Excellence in Education, this was a problem over thirty years ago that still seems to be an issue that American schools systems are still struggling with today. As a new teacher in the field of education, I can see the struggle and feel the intimidation factors that come along with this career. I am learning certain things that I was never taught in school like thorough and effective “parent communication techniques” and proper “pre and post assessment strategies” to establish what students do and do not already know. I now can feel the frustration that so many teachers have felt before…

Teachers have many roles throughout a school day, therefore requires a multiple of skills or attributes to be an outstanding educator. Some of the most important skills are classroom management, communication, content knowledge and strong relationships. It is important for a teacher to demonstrate these to help ensure students get the support needed to be successful. A strong relationship with your students and their parents is an important part of the foundation of being an outstanding teacher. Without the mutual respect, students will not be eager to learn from you and parents will not support the teacher. When a teacher displays genuine care and respect towards a student, they become fully engaged and excited to step into your classroom.…

These five domains consist of physical, cognitive, language, emotional, and social learning. My lesson plans start with objectives in mind when meeting all these developmental domains. My goal is to create activities that encourage a child to identify what the lesson involves, discuss openly the child’s perspective, deduce the content of the lesson, and apply the knowledge learned. I also believe that all children need the opportunity to make their own choices, even the choice to participate in learning. With this in mind, planning activities to keep the children engaged is of great importance to me. A crucial component when leading engaging activities is my approach to learning. I consider myself to be optimistic about learning, and set that example to the children when introducing a new lesson. When inviting the children to participate I want to remain on task and enthusiastic. A child can learn to model this approach to learning as well. This type of positive modeling can also impact the families of the children as well.…

I tried my best to engage in interactive conversations with the students. My whole class was basically ruling, not only me the teacher. Something very important during my lessons was differentiation, meeting all student’s needs. I differentiated in at least four classrooms elements based on student readiness, interest, and learning profile. I differentiated in content presenting ideas through both auditory and visual means, putting text materials on Power point presentations and sound, re-teaching an idea or skill for struggling learners, and extending the thinking or skills for advanced learners. I also differentiated in process because I used tiered activities through which all learners worked with the same important understanding and skills, but proceeded with different levels of support, challenge, and complexity, I offered manipulatives or other hands-on supports for students who needed them. I provided a safe learning environment, provided materials that reflect a variety of cultures and home settings, I set out clear guidelines for independent work, and my classroom was quiet and without…

In the article titled “How Teachers Learn: How Teachers Lead Teachers” By Jason Margolis the author states that when the teachers try to teach they should use humor to keep the students or adults awake. Jason also states that “Frame new approaches as easy and adaptable”. What the author is trying to say is that teachers should make sure that everything is approachable. Also the author states that “ present yourself as a continual learner”. What the author is trying to say is that teachers need to remember that they need to know what they're talking about and to continue to learn it. The author also states that talking too much will make the audiences lose focus in learning. In conclusion the author believes that you should not talk too…

Having an effective lesson plan should be one of the most important things that every teacher should strive to have. When teachers have an effective lesson plan it provides them with a guide for teaching a lesson. This allows for the least amount of distractions because having a lesson plan keeps teachers on track. It also allows for teachers to track students’ progress. Teachers can also set and achieve goals that they want their child students to learn by writing it down in their lesson plans. In order to have an effective lesson plan there has to be five components. These components are explicit instruction, teacher modeling, guided practice, independent practice, and monitoring progress.…
