I chose to major in Agronomy because I found the topic relatable to my agricultural background. I was pulled in by the concern for the future population and providing society necessities such as food, fuel, and fiber. Throughout my time at Iowa State, I became more concerned with the environmental aspect so I chose a secondary major of Environmental Studies. Currently, my goal is to mitigate agricultures impact on the environment throughout the rest of my life. I entered the department during my second semester at Iowa State, because I started in Agricultural Business and realized it was not the right major for me.

I do believe I was prepared for my future. During my two years with a Agronomic company, I had the proper knowledge to complete daily task. The concepts I learned have also been able to apply to other work. Additionally the material aided me in the years I worked for a graduate student in the Agronomy Department. The coursework also made me realize the importance of the material and understanding the topics in the current field.

Personally, I thought we got along great and she was very helpful. I wish I could have taken her 342 class, and met more often with her. Overall, I am glad I got to work with Gretchen these past four years in Agronomy.
