Importance Of Being A Writer

Before this class I thought that I was a pretty decent writer. After my first essay I realized how wrong I was, but this class has taught me all sorts of useful information and ways to keep improving myself as a writer. It has taught me how to write about things that are extremely personal to me, for example, I would have never imagined going back in time and writing about all of my friends coming to me about their deepest secrets, that would never have occurred to me to be interesting to read. I’ve always read books and stories that were tragic events and were very interesting to read, but I never knew that mine could be as well, like in my research paper I talked about my friend who wanted to commit suicide I stated, “he told me how he hated himself, how he hated his life, how he just wanted it to be over.” I never realized that …show more content…
It has allowed me to really sit back and think about what that writer had gone through. It gave me more skills to critique and be beneficial to others work. This class has broadened my thought process and it has made me realize certain things about myself that I probably never would have realized. Without this class I would have never gone back into my life time to sit back and think about why all of my friends decided to come to me to be the person too help them, but this class helped me try to understand that. In my research essay I found the article “10 Body Language Mistakes You Might Be Making” by Arlin Cuncic, and it talks about how people seem to be more attracted to people who smile for real. Cuncic states “with a real smile the upper part of your face changes rather than a fake smile, with a real smile your eyes scrunch more and you get crows feet, but with a fake smile you do not.” It made me take a step back and realize that people do tell me how I am always smiling. It helped me understand why people chose me to be their guide through their tough

Sometimes I would wonder if things we did in class were really helping me, and it made me become uninterested. However, I can now say that those exercises are what helped me the most. I would question why we were reading things in the writing reference but now looking back at my post on my blogs, I realize that those meaningless exercises to me were what made me do so well on my papers. I forgot how important it was to do the smaller assignments, and how those would so greatly affect my ability to write a long paper. Looking back at my posts, I am able to see how well they helped me develop tools.…

This class has been an interesting class this semester. I never dreamed of actually having to take a writing class. When my advisor told me there was going to be a Comp one class and also a Comp two class that I had to take I was worried. I have learned so many things about correctly writing over this semester that it is very insightful now. I will always be the reader, not the writer but that ok because I have had a wonderful Comp teacher that has helped me more than I could have dreamed.…

Thinking about the whole concept “writing for me” is so cliche I feel like, but it’s the way that helps me feel like my work is important, and worth reading. My writing experience before this class was very stressful. I wasn 't and I am still not a strong writer when it comes to academics. I also hate writing for a class. Although, I feel like I have grown when it comes to my writing since high school.…

I also feel a lot more confident to proofread another’s paper. Before taking this course I almost felt as it I was doing the person an injustice by proofing their paper, because I honestly had no clue what I was looking for. Aside, from the grammatical and meaning part of writing an essay this course has given me something very special and that is a love of writing. I never in a million years thought I would utter those words, but I actually have really enjoying writing papers for this class. Looking back on this past semester, though I still have room for improvement with some grammatical issues and other writing errors, I still believe I deserve an A for my…

I believe that this class was able to help improve my writing skills in many ways. Producing mid-drafts seemed like a nuisance at first, but has really helped improve my writing. By producing mid-drafts I was always tempted to re-read my essays before handing them in, which is something that I had never did before. Also having peer feedback also helped my writing. With the peer feedback I was able to take what was wrong with my paper and fix it before turning it in for a final grade which I found as excellent.…

It wasn 't because I wanted to know what they thought of my work but more because I wanted me to think of my work not just confined to myself by out there for everyone to know it 's okay to express yourself. Also I find narrative essay difficult because you have to come to terms with your situations that have been pressed below but I think that makes it more rewarding with you finally reach the surface. Since I have only written one narrative essay this semester I think that would best reflect my writing as of right now. The searching was my favorite part of the writing process by the hassle would be the conclusion because there was a constant debate in my head of what it could be but…

Before I would not have a process on how to write an essay I would just do it and turn it in thinking it was great how it is but in writing an essay it is never finalize as I learned from Dr. Moreno because there is so much more that can be done. As a result, my writing has improved so much since part A because I learned to have a process for writing such as others editing my work and brainstorming. My writing still needs work because I still have trouble with academic vocabulary that I will expand on soon. In the future for my writing I would love to see it better than it is now because it is the one thing that is going to be used for the rest of my life. Overall, this class taught me so much such as research, conducting data, and blogs.…

My first semester of college has been such a major change from high school because Professor Collins was very detailed about what needs to be fixed and how to fix it. While I was in high school, my English teacher did not do a very good job at giving feedback. Also, having my classmates give ideas on what to write about always played a big part in writing my final draft. I also thought it was a crazy idea when Professor Collins told me that I should read my paper out loud but now I do it for every paper and will continue to do it. My biggest regret this semester was not going to the writing center more and waiting last minute to do my papers.…

Also how I could easily get ideas for my essay. Next, we had to draft an outline to better clarify our idea before starting to write our first draft essay .It was during the practicing of the outline that I improved my writing organization, which has been one of my issue in the previous classes. I benefited also of the quick look of my classmates, we call it peer review section. Honestly, I like that one. Sometimes, I was sure that my draft was ready to be submitted, but my classmates helped me to find those little mistakes that were still unknown.…

Writing anything is hard. Before this class I never gave any real thought to my writing I did it because it was something I was told to do. Although writing can be a difficult process, this class helped me to better my writing be teaching me how to better manage my time, use technology, and to be more confident in my writing. Many students lack the skills it takes to manage time when it comes to homework assignments. What I learned is waiting till the last minute to write your papers isn 't going to help you become a better writer, sure you 'll hand the assignment in and might even possibly get a decent grade, but you 're writing itself will never improve.…
