Personal Narrative-Value Of My Life

Improved Essays
It was a day in the middle of October when it hit me. At the time, I thought it was something sudden that I never felt before. Looking back now, I realize that it was in me for much longer than I recognized. Although I may regret the way it happened, I do not regret the results of it. That day changed not only the course of my life but my self-value as well. I would not be where I am today if it didn’t happen and I could not be more grateful. I was stirred from my sleep by the blaring alarm on my phone and rolled over to swipe the screen to turn the sound off. I sleepily rolled out of the bed and went through the motions of my morning routine. I showered, got dressed, grabbed my book bag and a cup of coffee, and I was out the door. As I was heading to my 8 A.M. theatre class, I put in my headphones to listen to some music and began thinking about how I got to this point in my life. I remember when I received my acceptance package from ODU. I came home early because I did not have to work that day and arrived at my house just as the mailman did. He handed me all the mail and I froze as I saw the white envelope with ODU stamped on the front. I was nervous, excited and scared all at once. I ran into the house, dropped all the other mail on the kitchen table and dashed …show more content…

My heart began racing, my ears were filled with sound of rushing blood and a sweat started to break out over my forehead. With shaky hands I slowly began to tear through the top of the envelope. I poured out the contents on to my bed, picked up the sheet on top and read, “Congratulations, you have been accepted.”. Instantly, I felt the rush of relief, happiness and excitement course through my body. There it was, the acceptance to my dreams that put a permanent feeling of hope in my heart until

Core values are the things that inspire us, what we believe is important, and which is significance to us in life. My core values are commitment, fairness and respect for others, and to have trust and love for one another. My most important core value is to have honesty and love. Without love or trust there is no way to form a relationship with another person. For me, when I learned I could no longer trust or kind for someone; I had no feeling left for them.…

Every Life Matters I really only started understanding the meaning of abortion once one of my mom’s friends had one. Before that I had very little knowledge about abortion. My parents have always taught me to stand by what I believe and that others may have different beliefs. They always told me that I would meet people that would disagree with me and what I believe not only when it came to these kind of topics but many other things as well. Being told that, they told me to always respect people’s beliefs and their points of view because everyone has the right to stand by what they believe, just like I do.…

Though I’m still developing my legacy, I like to think that most people who know me, regardless of how well, consider me a person that can put a smile on nearly any face. From my time in high school as photo studio assistant getting babies to giggle on camera to my work as a personal trainer cracking jokes to help clients through the worst parts of their workouts; I learned that a little laughter can improve any situation. While this is a fairly simple impact to have on people, I do believe that it’s a powerful one. My own experiences with bereavement, chronic ill health and periods of poor mental health have shown me the value of a person that puts in the effort and time to get a smile out of someone. Though happiness is a pretty fleeting…

I was born with the name Patricia Laura but most of the time people called me Laura. For some reason, I love the name Laura because it makes me feel happy and carefree. Laura is of a Latin origin that reminds me of the laurel flower. A tiny and modest flower that blooms beautifully and represents motivation and determination. My aunt was the one who gave me the name Laura because she told me that once she saw me; her face blossomed and told my parents that I had to be named Laura the fact that my facial expressions showed humility and wisdom.…
