Personal Narrative: A Career As A Director

There are many moments that have been considered “life changing” in my life, but there is one moment that I would consider pivotal; when I got inducted into the National Junior Santa Gertrudis Association (NJSGA) as one of their directors. Being a director means I am responsible for the cattle along with the junior members in the surrounding states. Although being a director is hard work, I enjoy the laughs and good times shared by all. Along with many cattle shows, we also have a lot of meetings to discuss how each district is doing. There are not many people who get a position on the board of directors, and those who do show a large amount of pride and respect for this association. In the years past, I have learned that with hard work and …show more content…
But, I could hear my grandfather in the back of my head saying, “You are who you are, never be upset in the person you are.” I told them, “I admit, I am not the greatest student. I have always done my homework right before class, and I am not proud of that. I have never been great at book work, but I am a hard worker that can get a job done efficiently.” They seemed to be pleased with the answer because as I got up to leave I shook all of their hands again and the last man said, “It was nice talkin’ to you son.” I thanked and went back to work scooping cow manure and washing the …show more content…
First were the speeches, then, the showmanship winners, followed by the cattlemen’s, judging, and herdsman contests. At the end of the night, the president announced the new board members. I was, again, very nervous; they called the first two names, and neither were mine. Then my grandmother walked up on stage, and I thought there were only going to be two new board members. I was then complimented on the fact that the board asked my grandmother to announce me as not only a director, but also as the recipient of the “Eldon Flowers Award” this award is given to a junior member who goes above and beyond the call of duty, along with someone who is friendly. It brought tears to my grandmother’s eyes whenever she read her speech. Not only was I recognized for my hard work by the older members, I would be loved and respected by all of the junior members, and I will be one of those “idols” that a little boy or girl feels comfortable being around without worrying about being

My favorite job by far has been my internship as a career mentor in the Office of Career Development at my school. As a career mentor, my primary duties are to help students with resume/cover letters, job/internship search and just general life goals questions. This internship has made realize why I love working with students. It’s such a great feeling when a student comes and they may be confused about their major or how to make a resume for a job; but by the end of the your time with them, you just see this light bulb go off in their head and they have this look of “I understand”. Even though it may be a very small interaction, I feel like I have made a small difference in their lives and I have helped them somehow.…

Try being still long enough to find the right image you want to capture through the lens of a camera. Finding the right shot takes time, which each shot you want it to be precise and just right. You always want as a photographer to make the first shot the best one mostly so you want have to take the time to find another shot. Imagine how frustrating it is thinking you’re first shot is the best until you look at the blurry and unfocused picture. The first time you look at that picture you think to yourself that you can just retake that same picture and will look different the next time.…

My response to this selection is that Hornak made right decision, even though it took her long time to realize, but it would be hard for me If I were to change my career. It would be hard for me because I know I spent a lot time to study and it costs me a lot too. But I personally believe that we all need money, but I would also want to pick the major that I would enjoy in and which would make me proud. For instance, I like to help others…

Leadership is imperative to supporting the foundation of succession in our society. It is important that we exercise our God given right to utilize our sphere of influence to the best of our abilities. Although leadership may gain you more recognition throughout society it is not about the affluence one can acquire; leading is solely about guiding others down a path of success so that future generations can more easily learn from our mistakes to pass down to the next generation. That is why I believe mentoring and any position of leadership should be central to young adults to set the example for the impactful youth. I found my sphere of influence to be within the academic driven chapter of the National Honor Society which in my senior year I was elected president.…

There was a warm satisfaction I always felt prior to rallies as I frantically rushed around ensuring everyone was on the right cue. I was passionate about rallies because they were the one event where groups from different parts of the school congregated to support one another. Junior year, I became pep commissioner and was delegated with the task of directing rallies for the year. Upon being handed the job, I was left with no guidance since the previous pep commissioner graduated. As a result, I persevered learning from my mistakes with each rally as the year progressed.…

Upon entering high school, I didn’t know what to expect. I was very shy, only talking when it was necessary. Because of the magnet program that I was accepted into, I was separated from my friends and other familiar faces. Going to school became a routine: get up, get ready, take classes, come home, do homework, then go to sleep. This cycle would continue until a tall, fashionable woman came into my coding class.…

I was in elementary school when I first discovered my love for acting. I always jumped at the opportunity to be in classroom plays and school performances, but I never took them too seriously. My teacher noticed that I was pretty good at performing, so she gave my mom information for a theater company. Shortly after, my mom enlisted me with the company and I immediately started weekly rehearsals. Four months later, our show was being put on display in front of dozens of families.…
