2016 saw the commencement of a Bachelor of Management degree for myself and I was eager to begin. Having studied a whole year of university I was familiar with the Uni lifestyle and was excited to begin something that I was truly interested. However, MAA104 was unlike any other learning experience I had encountered throughout my first year of university experience. The three-hour class seemed daunting as I am not one to enjoy sitting still for hours on end. Having studied predominantly health subjects for the past few years, business was something that I was interested in yet had very little experience. Throughout my many years of schooling, studying and taking exams was something I always hated and dreaded. So when I learnt that there were weekly exercises and a major assessment task, I welcomed the idea. Unfortunately, I did not perform up to my weekly workbook’s expectations with the result of my business report and was quite disappointed. As stated earlier the content of my assessment would have been graded at a higher standard had my report included more of what we were covering in class. I was also put at a disadvantage as I broke my shoulder two weeks prior to the assessment date, hindering my ability to work on the assignment for a week. However, to give myself the best chance of submitting the assignment on time to the best standard possible I need to start planning my assessments much longer in the case of a sickness or injury. This will be something that I hope to incorporate into my next few years of studying as in order to do well I need to give myself the best chance at completing my assignments on time to the best of my ability.
Financail literacy has provided me with what I hoped it would, a broad understanding of basic accounting. Wheter I like it or not, accounting is something that I will have to face throughout my professional career in the business industry which is why it was important to do well in this topic. Even though I was disappointed in my major assessment mark, I am happy with how I ended up in this unit and hope that the content I learned will serve me well throughout my degree and well into my managerial
