If anyone asks me what have motivated my life, my answer would be this: “The two gears that have been driving my life are art and social engagement.”
Since childhood, I have experienced various genres of art, covering classical music, traditional Korean painting, and creative writing. With all these experiences, I fell in love with art, more specifically with the delights generated from expressing my imaginations and communicating others with the language of beauty.

When conducting a research in music class in high school, I watched a film about El Sistema, a Bolivian art education program. It was an exemplary case of art creating social impacts. Continuing the research, I also found other NGO’s and governmental art projects that have generated positive changes in local community. By the time I submitted my research paper, I decided to pursue my career not only as an artist, but also as a social entrepreneur specialized in cultural …show more content…
Through studying philosophy, I am learning the essence of art, society, and most importantly human beings. Within the courses of Art & Technology, I am studying history of social artistry and actively participating in various art projects through which I can raise my voice about the social problems.
Along with my studies, I gained field experiences through volunteering works and internship. Spending a month as a MAPEH (Music, Art, Physical Education and Health) teacher in Burgos elementary school in Bohol, Philippines enabled me to look into what it really likes to organize art education within extremely small budget, which sadly is a usual condition in public schools of developing countries. After returning to home, I started looking for proper solutions to overcome such limits.
Internship in Digital Art Weeks provided me rich opportunities to build network with researchers and social entrepreneurs in art, science, and social fields who lead innovations in each of their fields. Throughout a year in DAW, I observed the factors of successful innovations and got inspirations about creative ways to build the better
