When applying for a job, it is important to gather information such as skills, qualifications, and experience. Employers pay attention to every detail while reading an application. Therefore, it is not easy to get an interview if the application does not convince the employer. Applications are designed to collect enough information about the candidate, so employers can make hiring decisions. Raul should start with researching some information about employer’s website, and practice filling out job applications. Also, he could get hard copies of the applications and fill them out by hand. If the job of interest is posted in career websites, Raul should register and take advantage of the free of charge service. During the registration process, Raul will be asked to insert his contact information, skills, qualification, job objectives, and career field. A smart move for Raul would be to write many keywords in order to let the employer find his profile on the website. When filling out the application, the candidate will see part of the document at every step. Some websites ask the job seeker to upload resume and cover letter before starting the application. Also, websites let candidates copy and past all the information already entered when registered. Another way to apply for a job is by email. The employer will ask the candidate to send resume and cover letter. Name of the candidate and job listing should be written in the subject line. Specify that the cover letter and the resume are attached with a brief message in the body of the email. The documents should be checked right before sent. If the application does not request additional documents, the candidate should not attach them because the email might get blocked. If the candidate wishes to present additional information, it would be a good idea to keep them for the interview. Applying online for a job could be confusing and overwhelming.
