In January 2013, a documentary had been release to bring up a big issue about captivity and bring up a piece of truth about the death of Tilikum's trainer Dawn Brancheau. The title of the documentary is “Blackfish” and was directed by Gabriela Cowperthwaite. It brought up the debate of wild animals in captivity on the table. In this documentary, it is clearly shown that a killer whale which was captured when it was young, was trained all its life, was a few times moved from a park to another and spends all its life as a captive animal would obviously once let its natural instinct comes back. This is what happened and this is what killed Dawn Brancheau (YouTube: Blackfish). It is clear that killer whales are victims of the park. New born babies are directly separate from their mums which cut them from the natural link they have with their mum to make them easier to train. During the training, if they do not perform correctly they do not get food so it is kind of an obligation for them to become human’s toys. They were created by the nature on the fact that they were supposed to be free in the wild and not used as human’s entertainment. Jim McBain (director of Veterinary medicine at Sea World) said that “there’s something fundamentally immoral about capturing creatures from the wild and putting them in places like this for maybe the education but principally the amusement of human beings...”. According to me, Killer Whales are highly intelligent and they have their own feelings; they need a lot of space and freedom and they should not be trap in tiny areas. They should stay free and in peace in their natural
