Policy Title: Adolescent Health Policy
The aim of adolescent Health Policy is to improve the health status of the individuals from aged 10-19(adolescent)/10-24(young people).
Purpose:
The main purpose of this policy is to end the preventable deaths of the adolescents as well as to improve their health and well-being and bringing transformative change to shape a prosperous and sustainable future. Furthermore, this policy aims to increase the availability and access to the information about adolescent health and development and providing health counselling services to adolescents.

Adolescent period is the starting point for the risks of various disease such as cancer and cardiovascular disease due to use of tobacco and alcohol and so is the mental disorders (begin before 25 years). There has been sharp rise in teenage injury which is one of the causes for preventable deaths among this age group. Sexual and reproductive health is less of the challenge due to education but accidental pregnancy, unsafe abortion and sexually-transmitted infections (STDs) including human immunodeficiency virus/ acquired immune deficiency syndrome (HIV/AIDS) are still the focus and challenges (Patton et al, …show more content…
Relevant stakeholders will be advocated and oriented to review and reform policy and legislation to create supportive environment for adolescent health and development in the areas of health, education, skill, welfare and rights. Media, Non-Government Organisations (NGOs) and community-based organisations will be used for advocacy in relation to policy and legislation.
Community sensitisation meetings will be organised with parents, teachers and adolescents on the needs and problems of adolescents and also about sexual and other types of exploitation of adolescents and adolescents will be encouraged to participation in the decision making process.
Adolescent’s participation
For the success of adolescent health and development initiatives, the active participation of adolescents is essential and more important for female and adolescents of marginalised groups. Integration of adolescent health programmes with formal and non-formal education programmes to train them on participation in the development, implementation and dissemination of information at each level.
